CoQ10, omega-3 and B vitamins belong in the same routine only when you understand the separate job of each product. EPA and DHA have authorised heart-function claims at specified intakes, several B vitamins contribute to energy metabolism, and the Root & Pulse CoQ10 formula includes thiamine. CoQ10 itself should not be given the claims that belong to those other nutrients.
CoQ10: an ingredient with a cautious evidence story
Coenzyme Q10 is a substance naturally present in the body and involved in cellular energy processes. It has been studied in several health contexts, but the US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health describes evidence for preventing heart disease and for heart failure as inconclusive. It also says the overall evidence does not support CoQ10 for statin-related muscle pain.
That does not make the ingredient meaningless. It means a responsible product page should state the amount and formula without converting biological interest into a treatment promise.
What CoQ10 Plus 300mg actually provides
Root & Pulse CoQ10 Plus 300mg provides 300mg coenzyme Q10 in one capsule, with added thiamine. The 60-capsule vegan pack supplies 60 daily servings.
Thiamine contributes to normal heart function, normal energy-yielding metabolism and normal functioning of the nervous system. Those claims belong to thiamine. The formula should not be summarised as “CoQ10 supports the heart” when the authorised claim is being carried by vitamin B1.
Omega-3: ALA is not the same as EPA and DHA
Plant foods such as flaxseed, chia and walnuts provide alpha-linolenic acid, or ALA. EPA and DHA are longer-chain omega-3 fatty acids commonly associated with fish oil, but algae oil offers a direct vegan source. The body can convert some ALA, but the conversion is limited, so a label should state EPA and DHA rather than using “omega-3” alone.
EPA and DHA contribute to normal heart function at a combined daily intake of 250mg. DHA contributes to maintenance of normal brain function and normal vision at 250mg daily.
What Vegan Omega-3 provides
Root & Pulse Vegan Omega-3 uses algae oil and provides 400mg DHA plus 200mg EPA in a two-softgel daily serving. The 90-softgel pack therefore supplies 45 days. It is suitable for vegans.
The 600mg combined EPA and DHA daily serving exceeds the 250mg condition attached to the normal heart-function claim, while the 400mg DHA amount exceeds the 250mg condition for normal brain function and vision. These are maintenance claims, not promises to prevent cardiovascular disease or improve memory.
Where a B complex fits
Root & Pulse Vitamin B Complex is a one-capsule vegan formula with the eight B vitamins and PABA. The pack contains 120 capsules, giving 120 daily servings.
B vitamins are not a single substance. Thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, B6, biotin, folate and B12 have different recognised roles, with several contributing to normal energy-yielding metabolism and reduction of tiredness and fatigue. A B complex can make sense for convenience, but it can also duplicate B6, folate and B12 in a multivitamin or specialist formula.
Three products, three comparison questions
| Product | Primary label fact | Best question |
|---|---|---|
| CoQ10 Plus 300mg | 300mg CoQ10 plus thiamine, one capsule daily | Am I choosing CoQ10 knowingly, and have I checked medicine interactions? |
| Vegan Omega-3 | 400mg DHA plus 200mg EPA, two softgels daily | Do I want direct vegan EPA and DHA rather than ALA alone? |
| Vitamin B Complex | Eight B vitamins, one capsule daily | Do I already get the same B vitamins elsewhere? |
Build the routine around food and movement
A heart-health routine begins with the factors that supplements cannot replace: not smoking, regular activity, sleep, blood-pressure and cholesterol checks when appropriate, and a diet with vegetables, wholegrains, pulses, nuts, seeds and unsaturated fats. A vegan omega-3 product can solve a format question, but it does not cancel out the wider pattern.
If you choose more than one product, add them one at a time and use a consistent meal cue. The Heart Health collection shows CoQ10 and vegan omega-3 side by side. Read our vegan omega-3 guide for a deeper EPA and DHA explanation.
Interactions are not a footnote
NCCIH notes that CoQ10 may interact with warfarin and insulin and may not be compatible with some cancer treatments. Omega-3 supplements can also be relevant when medicines affect clotting. Ask a pharmacist or clinician before use if you take medication, are preparing for surgery, have a cardiovascular condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are under medical supervision.

Common questions
Does CoQ10 have an authorised heart-health claim?
The recognised heart-function claim in Root & Pulse CoQ10 Plus belongs to its thiamine, not to CoQ10 itself.
Is algae omega-3 equivalent to flaxseed?
They are different sources. Algae oil can provide EPA and DHA directly, while flaxseed provides mainly ALA.
Can I take all three products together?
Possibly, but first check B-vitamin overlap and medicine interactions. Introduce products one at a time and seek individual advice where needed.
How long does the Heart Health & Energy combination last?
CoQ10 lasts 60 days, Vegan Omega-3 lasts 45 days, and B Complex lasts 120 days at their stated servings. The shortest supply is 45 days.
